Joint Research and Development
SCMB has a strong, internationally recognised research reputation. SCMB staff and students are published widely and achieve well in attracting competitive grant funding and industry sponsorship. Types of research collaboration available include:
Australian Research Council Linkage programs
The ARC is an independent body established by the Australian Government to advance Australia’s capacity to undertake quality research. An ARC Linkage Grant is an effective way to leverage your research dollar, giving you access to university expertise to solve the research and development challenges your organisation faces.
Your organisation can partner with SCMB researchers to apply for a grant that, together with a contribution from your organisation, provides the critical mass to get research underway. SCMB staff will coordinate the paperwork. The ARC brokers agreements with industry partners that take care of all the statutory requirements.
Industry/Government Research Contracts
Organisations can partner directly with SCMB to establish agreements to undertake research and development.
Student Placements with Industry
SCMB has students from undergraduate to doctorate level who can undertake placements in industry that might assist with your R&D.
Joint SCMB and Industry Research Scholarships
Organisations can partner with SCMB to co-fund scholarships to research higher degree (Masters and PhD) students working on projects in which the industry partner may have an interest.
Joint R&D sometimes leads to innovations with commercial potential. SCMB has access to University Innovation and Commercial Development specialists who can help develop these commercial opportunities. They operate in conjunction with UQ’s subsidiary company, UniQuest Pty Ltd, one of Australia’s most highly regarded university technology transfer groups.
To quickly find an expert in your area of interest, use the UQ Experts search page.
Find out more about the research expertise at SCMB by accessing the University’s easy-to-use UQ Researchers database. Use the database to make contact with our researchers, and to discuss options for industry collaboration R&D.
Or, if you are ready to consider a direct partnership with SCMB researchers, contact email@example.com. The staff there will not only help your search, but will manage the commercial arrangements.
If you are not sure where to start, contact the School Manager, Mark Starkey.
