Structural insights into the function and inhibition of bacterial virulence proteins
Title: Structural insights into the function and inhibition of bacterial virulence proteins
Speaker: Prof Begoña Heras from La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science
Bio: Prof. Begoña Heras is Head of the Structural Biology and Bacterial Pathogenesis Laboratory and co-leads the Infection and Immunity Theme at the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science. Her internationally recognised research focuses on how bacterial virulence proteins function and on translating this knowledge into novel antivirulence therapies to combat antibiotic resistance. She has published widely in high-impact journals, secured major research funding, and is advancing her discoveries towards new therapeutic solutions. More about her research can be found at https://scholars.latrobe.edu.au/bheras.
About School research seminars
Seminars cover all aspects of chemistry and molecular biosciences and are delivered by visiting national and international academics. PhD completion seminars are also incorporated into the program.
Seminars are usually held in person and occasionally via zoom. All are welcome to attend.
