Tracing pathogenic cell states and clonal trajectories: insights from cancer and autoimmunity
Title: Tracing pathogenic cell states and clonal trajectories: insights from cancer and autoimmunity
Speaker: A/Prof Federico Gaiti (University of Toronto),
Bio: Dr. Federico Gaiti completed his PhD at the University of Queensland and his postdoctoral training at Weill Cornell Medicine. Since 2021, he is a Scientist at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto (Canada). His research focuses on cancer evolution, with an emphasis on identifying the genetic, epigenetic, and transcriptional players that define malignant cell states and clonal trajectories over time. Using single-cell and spatial multi-omics approaches applied to primary human tissues, his work aims to characterize the molecular programs associated with tumor progression and early clonal expansion, with the long-term goal of identifying opportunities for early intervention and cancer interception.
About School research seminars
Seminars cover all aspects of chemistry and molecular biosciences and are delivered by visiting national and international academics. PhD completion seminars are also incorporated into the program.
Seminars are usually held in person and occasionally via zoom. All are welcome to attend.
