Helen coordinates and manages the School’s Sequencing Facility. This is a full cost recovery service working closely with the Australian Centre for Ecogenomics (ACE) and supports microbial genomics sequencing. Oversees all budgetary aspects of the facility, development of existing and new workflows, including DNA extraction, Illumina and Oxford Nanopore sequencing platforms. Provides grant application budgets for sequencing when requested. Advises researchers on best sequencing practices, experimental design and data interpretation. Oversees RIMS software for ACE Sequencing Facility. Supervision of 1 HEW5 F/T staff member (will become HEW6 in 2026) plus HEW5 casual staff. Serve as fire warden for Bldg 76.
