Speaker: A/Prof Marina Fortes, SCMB
Bio: Marina Fortes holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine and a Master of Science in Animal Reproduction, both from the University of São Paulo in Brazil. These were followed by a PhD in Genetics from The University of Queensland completed in 2012. After her PhD, Marina conducted post-doctoral research at the Queensland Alliance fAor Agriculture and Food Innovation, specialising in genomics and cattle trials. Since August 2014, Marina has served as an academic at the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences, focusing on genetics, genomics, and livestock biotechnologies. She leads the Livestock Genomics group, a research team focussed on developing and enhancing sustainable practices within livestock industries.
About School research seminars
Seminars cover all aspects of chemistry and molecular biosciences and are delivered by visiting national and international academics. PhD completion seminars are also incorporated into the program.
Seminars are usually held in person and occasionally via zoom. All are welcome to attend.
