Inorganic chemistry focuses on the chemistry of the metallic elements, in particular the transition metals and lanthanoid elements.

The diversity of reactivity and structure across these elements underpins recent advances in catalysis, medicine, molecular imaging and clean energy. The role of metals in biology is also a rapidly expanding field.

Our research is closely linked with investigations into organic chemistry and physical and computational chemistry, and we collaborate with colleagues who specialise in those areas on a wide range of multidisciplinary research projects.
