The facility incorporates a live cell imaging microscope, a Class II biological safety cabinet and an incubator with CO2 and O2 control and high temperature disinfection. 

This compete set-up enables critical, delicate and rapid cellular-based experiments to be undertaken in the same room as the imaging system.

Sample requirements

For optimal imaging resolution and image quality, samples must be prepared based on the type of sample and imaging surface/vessel used. Discuss this with the Facility Manager.

The microscope requires a 170um coverslip or plate/dish thickness for all oil/water immersion objectives.

The microscope has additional long focal distance objectives available for imaging standard microplates.

Considerations

You'll need to undertake the relevant building and other inductions before using equipment.

You'll require a UQ username to access the booking calendar via public folders in Microsoft Outlook.

UQ users have priority of access.
